Synth Single Review: “Monsters” by Syntronix & Dualarity

Syntronix & Dualarity’s “Monsters” carries a theme encompassing understanding, compassion and love as the rhythm grows in strength with the drums thumping in a solid line while the synthesizer injects dawn light.

Empathy fills Dualarity’s voice, reflecting the lyrics. Vocal fragility is balanced by a propulsive low end and the main melody is tinged by twilight colours. Dualarity’s vocals wrap around me with intense caring, drawing me into the mood captured by the lyrics.

The solidity below the main theme supports its floating radiance, spreading from the synth as the melody adds an affectionate embrace. Wordless vocals move on an effulgent tide before stopping.

The smile worn by the song's subject is one the main character recognizes because, "you wear it so they don't see you cry." He tells her that he used to be the same way. He isn't fooled by her fancy clothes because he knows what she is and adds, "I want you to know it's okay to be you. "

"So if the tears start falling, don't be afraid to let them see you crying" because the storyteller points out that, "the truth is, darling, teardrops come straight from the heart." He continues, "if the light is fading, dance in the shadows, let them see you swaying" because both of them are monsters and they aren't afraid of the dark.

Observing that the song's subject hands are shaking as she lights her cigarette, our narrator asks her precisely what she's afraid of. He adds that if she's afraid of other people, "Girl,I need you to hear me because they are not worth your time. Girl, I need you to see this clearly. Are you with me?”
