Synth Single Review: “爬上 모래시계 (Hourglass)’’ by EkohFlare & Pashang
by Karl Magi
EkohFlare & Pashang’s “爬上 모래시계 (Hourglass)” carries listeners on a journey across time and space. The track begins as a sweeping cymbal moves with foundations that rumble and tones that sparkle out into open space. The bass feels cosmic as fluttering notes wander into a vast starscape, while the tiny lights of the synth gleam distantly.
After a windy wash, the rhythm guides with solidity and steadiness as the main melody drifts out with a mixture of contemplation, melancholy and tenderness. Arpeggios wash like planetary light while the supportive underlayer throbs on. Ethereal notes levitate as hollow percussion pops and the main melody carries me across a beautiful vista of ancient stars and planets.
Chimes glitter like a far-off sun while the wind sweeps through the music and the percussion drops away. Fragile arpeggios tremble as the lush guiding pulse returns. The illuminating tones carry a melody full of adventure and drifting gentleness, painting images of galactic spaces awash with gas clouds and stellar glow. The melody grows wistful, carried on a mid-high synth radiating delicate brightness, before softly flickering notes glide into silence.
