Synth Single Review: “Neon Heart” by Oceanside85, LxstChild & Gelowler
by Karl Magi
Oceanside85, LxstChild & Gelowler's “Neon Heart” exhales into life with a velvety hush that falls across gently radiant light to support the song's message of hope, while trickling tones brush easily in the distance. Affection permeates Oceanside85's compellingly resonant voice, lushly expressive and distinctive.
Percussion adds weight while the synth creates sensations of uplifting support and love and Oceanside85 uses her soulful voice to deliver her message of resilience and caring.
The production from LxstChild and Gelowler foregrounds the vocal performance while wrapping it in misty sensations in a way that draws me in deeper. Oceanside85 reaches deep inside and sends her encouragement out with intention as the big drums create rhythmic strength before the song closes.
As our storyteller talks about roaming lonely streets in search of brighter days, she hopes that the light in the other person's eyes never fades. She encourages them by saying, "Don't let your past define you, remember who you are," and points out that they need to follow their heart. She adds, "I don't want to see you looking down on yourself, sometimes you do."
To reassure the other person, the narrator says, "Look into my eyes, I don't give a shit," adding that they can't put one past her because, "I see the spark in you, glowing brightly in the dark."
As the other person fights and feels isolated, she supports them by pointing out that, "I'm right beside you with my neon heart," and concludes by saying, "It's hard to find something to believe in, the world's so dark. Let all that be behind you, you are at a new start."
