Synth Single Review: “Saraia” by lxst child

by Karl Magi

lxst child’s “Saraia” evokes majestic visions of cosmic vistas. The piece commences with astronomically immense bass flowing beneath whisper-soft notes that twirl into an ever-accelerating arpeggio, like stars being born. A solar wind seems to flow as rounded tones carry a hushed melody full of melancholy while the arpeggios swirl like the extending arms of a galaxy.

Whispered voices begin a countdown as the arpeggios spin with thrilling energy and a drifting synth carries a melody that lifts me on a weightless tide. The drums are sharp and clear while a medium-high synth blooms with celestial light and flickering notes arpeggiate with diaphanous life.

A piano slowly fades as the track drifts into openness and the foundation punches with great power. Brassy notes cry out with mournful emotion while a planetscape fills my mind, lofting me across strange terrain. Pattering notes brush softly before a rising synth illuminates the music with a phosphorescent glow. Arpeggios whirl and noble tones rise and fade into silence.
