Synth Single Review: “Prism” by Night Audit

by Karl Magi

Night Audit’s “Prism” resonates with a reverberant synth drifting in tumbling lines which grow in strength above a sonic tide which rises, complementing the increasing power of slightly rough-edged notes cascading into an intense rush. The charging rhythmic pulse electrifies the leaping melodic line as Night Audit’s guitar chugs before rising into a melody that shatters the music into refracted brilliance.

The lead synth has a vibrant radiance as the growling guitar pulses before flashing into gem-like effulgence and cruising with gliding progress. The rushing underpinnings flourish with massive strength and resonating tones support the guitar as it climbs with piercing brightness and irresistible force.

All of the complex layers intrigue my ears as a tightly wound note pattern contributes a ghostly quality, drifting past in spectral trails. The drums accelerate as Night Audit’s guitar flies out, free and flowing, giving an impression of escape before the track comes to an end.

Synth Single Review: “So High” by Love Spirals Downwards

by Karl Magi

Love Spirals Downwards’ “So High” brings in the silken breathiness of Anji Lum’s voice as the smooth drums create late-night energy and a soft groove while the airy sensuality of Anji Lum’s voice is wrapped around Ryan Lum’s guitar which strums with sultry emotion. The lyrics send a message of being lifted up so high that you'll never come down again.

Vocals like velvet caress as a saxophone in the distance seductively swirls, enfolding Anji Lum’s atmospheric tenderness while Ryan Lum casts a spell of deep attraction and midnight calm. I find myself gliding on a cloud of diamond-like brilliance, surrounded by hazy sensations while Anji Lum’s vocals take me on a tranquil journey.

The music reflects a passionate mood and a chilled out sensibility, perfect for relaxation and dreaming, tinged with a hint of melancholy emotion to balance the sailing, graceful sensation within the music.

Synth Single Review: “Interdimensional” by Atmolifter & Neon Shards

by Karl Magi

Atmolifter & Neon Shards’ “Interdimensional” expands with limpid sonic pools extending outward above an even rhythmic heartbeat as Neon Shards’ guitar exudes keen luminosity in contrast to the velvety background. As the titanic drums collide, the guitar cries with breathy dynamism and heartfelt intensity while an arpeggiating synthesizer radiates soothing lustre.

An interlocking tapestry of tonal colours suffuses the track with richness and surpassing beauty. Faceted tones sparkle and flare like refracted light above the solidly shaping percussion while Neon Shards captures impressions of vast distances and intergalactic enchantment with his masterful guitar solo.

The music penetrates deeply into my mind, painting images of journeying into dimensions beyond human comprehension, tranquil despite their strangeness. The beat has faded but gains strength before Atmolifter’s synth layers create luscious balance with Neon Shards’ guitar as it bleeds with feeling and reaches for the endless expanse of the multiverse.

Synth EP Review: “Back to Life” by Walmind

by Karl Magi

Walmind’s “Back to Life” carries listeners on a thrilling journey through fantastical landscapes and melodic beauty. Images of a place far removed from mundane reality permeate the music and give it depth as auditory pleasure is woven.

“Back To Life” has a quiet start with strings slowly circling, weaving a pattern of haunting emotion that slides outward into a vast background which echoes and a windy exhalation begins to grow. Swinging percussion joins the guitar as it conveys feelings of slow awakening and growing sensation while Walmind’s chanted performance carries a calm feeling of realization and growth.

The melody is full and aches with beauty while the shadowy chanting contributes a measured energy and the guitar vibrates, entangling with peace and mournful feeling. All of the depth of emotion in Walmind’s voice reaches out to me, encouraging and hopeful, as the glimmering guitar emphasizes all of the feelings of growth and readiness to move on.

As the melody evolves, it arcs upward and pours out positivity as far away vocals move like a ghostly memory. The main guitar melody joins the swinging beat while the whispered spoken word vocals are emphasized again by the sobbing guitar as it exudes pure, earnest feeling. The bluesy influence is enjoyable to me before the track slowly closes.

With an ethereal evocation of a breeze and notes that exhale with consoling luminosity, “In the dead of the night” develops a shaping underlayer while tones like gems caught in moonlight exude opalescent light before the artist's gossamer guitar weaves a spell of ancient power and beauty.

A melody reaches out to pull me into a landscape of pearlescent glow and contemplation tinged with energy and hopeful, even encouraging feelings. Gleaming tones carry emotional weight, the guitar broadcasting relaxation that also encompasses positive readiness for change.

I enjoy the guitar’s sailing gracefulness, like gentle stars in the night sky, while the underpinnings guide before the song breaks into a broad synth which glistens as the guitar invokes a mood of meditative concentration that leads to an uplifting outcome before the track closes.

“King Bernard” becomes a noble flow as rising tones broadcast faint starlight and the drums collide with a sailing guitar, full of serene contemplation. The rhythm is a shaping influence while the guitar exudes illumination that contains peace and majesty above the delicate interweaving of synth notes.

The main melody cruises on Walmind’s diaphanously smooth guitar, carrying sensations of relaxation tinged by affection and a noble disposition. The trickling underpinnings give an aquatic flow while the guitar wraps around my ears with feelings of majestic kindness.

The pattering beat is a fragile accompaniment to the rich melodic content, reflecting a character with a spirit that exudes positive emotion before the track comes to an end.

A deep-toned guitar slowly descends with deliberate motion as “Dream Of Baras” glides into existence as the gleaming notes above it are driven by a swirling wind and the melody has an ethereal, graceful quality that captures the hazy world of dreams.

Reverberant percussion adds guidance as the guitar melody captures me in its enchanting hold, full of serenity and a meditative smoothness, while a foundational pulse continues to shape the music. My mind is permeated by waves of orange and amber light, like a sunset spilling over an ancient land.

Images of breathtaking mountains and misty valleys unfold as they pass below me as Walmind's guitar paints with luscious colours. The beat keeps easy time as lucent tones spill with caressing emotion, moving out as a dream unfolds before the track stops.
