Synth Single Review: “Explorer 1” by Simon Gabriel

by Karl Magi

Simon Gabriel’s “Explorer 1” casts a subtle luminescence as it drifts into the uncharted spaces of the universe, like ancient starlight from the beginning of time. Gleaming tones flicker in the wide-open vastness as a melodic line captures the incredible beauty and unfathomable complexity of the stars. Undulating vibration adds gigantic weight to support images of uncountable galaxies dancing before my eyes with mysterious force.

Rhythmic guidance moves from solid percussion, shaping the light-painting of the main melodic pattern, full of enigmatic dynamism. Hushed and fragile, notes slip in haunting reverberation as delicate descending synth captures the filigree of cosmic radiance. Drifting out like a spacecraft beyond the bounds of knowledge, the melodic expression of the unfurling wonder of our universe roams with serene strength.

Sensations of anti-gravity flight spill from the synth’s brilliant glow, propelling the listener’s heart through the unbelievable beauty of galactic structures and out to the edge of human knowledge before the track ends.
