Synth Single Review: “Frontrunner” by SynthPrincipal
by Karl Magi
SynthPrincipal’s “Frontrunner” evokes a lonely highway journey. The track begins with rising notes glowing with a sunrise’s warmth before slowly encircling arpeggios swirl into motion. The beat throbs with smooth regularity as the lead synth adds radiant energy, conjuring the image of yellow highway lines blurring beneath a supercar’s tires as it charges onward. I feel transported along twisting blacktop as the melody moves on a rounded synth, full of drifting emotion.
The blend of mournful feeling, tenderness and momentum creates a layered, image-rich whole. Sensations of dawn roads and endless travel fill the track as it unfolds. A raised tonal pattern cries out with aspiration and encouragement while spinning arpeggios elevate the motion. The main melody is full and luscious, floating with peace and hypnotic speed as percussion pulses steadily. Polished sounds shimmer above computerized notes that echo softly, and the track exhales into silence.
