Synth Single Review: “The Remnant”’ by Everdune
by Karl Magi
Everdune’s “The Remnant” surges with exhilarating strength. The piece begins with hollow drums exploding into life over a resounding bassline. Glimmering tones rise like sunlight while explosive underpinnings seethe with vitality. The main melody rings out on crystalline bells, leaping with adventurous dynamism yet tinged with melancholy.
A rushing foundation launches with irrepressible force before a medium-high, majestic synth carries a melody that reflects a thrilling flight across endless spaces. I am filled with rising joy as the colossal beat erupts and dense bass growls. Bell-like notes glitter with possibility, creating forward motion above a bursting underlayer. A secondary melodic line sings with grandeur and indomitable power.
The low end batters as brassy melodic patterns blaze through the music with coruscating brilliance, the bass crashing against them. Imagery of adventure on a strange world fills the soundscape before shining notes introduce a calmer melody. A diaphanous synth glides out in a tender line before trumpeting tones race for the stars. Like much of the artist’s work, the track paints cinematic imagery as it unfolds, ending with blasting brass hits and foundations that rush unstoppably forward.
