Synth Single Review: “Igniting shadows” by Millennium Falck
by Karl Magi
Millennium Falck’s “Igniting shadows” hovers into life with a tentative warmth before Millennium Falck’s careworn voice carries the floating melody, capturing something intimate and lost, tinged with passionate fire. The vocals flow with melancholy, a theme that is full of tender thoughtfulness as delicate sounds weave a filigree.
The compelling power of Millennium Falck’s vocal performance fills me with profound emotion as a piano glides out with pain seized by the motif it carries. The words are accompanied by touching strings, wrapping around the music as the melody is a bastion of sadness, while the percussion forms a guiding motion. The dark shades of the cello echo as the piano falls into quiet contemplation.
Wishing he was a "burning star that would burn away our god," the main character continues, "let me ignite you tonight." He let the song's subject’s fire burn his soul and "burn our beliefs bright in the sky” as he says he'll set them on fire tonight.
As the narrator stands on the coast, "on a ledge of time" he can feel the song's subject fade away "as I am with you this time." In a strange reversal, the sun rises from the west "just before the last goodbye" as he pleads to be allowed to forget the other person.
To conclude, our storyteller says, "You consumed our pointless depths, covered our heads in the sky. You consumed everything and everything I loved.”
