Synth Single Review: “Lose Control” by Brandon & Carolina Padro

by Karl Magi

Brandon & Carolina Padro’s “Lose Control” spins to life with tones that bounce like energetic dancers, deep and full with a bubbling quality, outlining a melody that hypnotizes with its funky liveliness as slap bass and record scratches create texture.

The melody locks with Carolina Padro’s exuberant voice, passion showering me from the retro melody as the chords in the distance explode with metallic brilliance. A picture of a dance floor grooving down to the music erupts as Carolina Padro grabs my shirt and tugs me into the dance.

Hypnotizing me with the twirling xylophone, the groove sits right in the pocket as record scratches slice and the low end rebounds. Carolina Padro pours every bit of ardent desire through her voice, and Brandon’s jazzy piano solo flickers with unrestrained liveliness, painting images of an ultra-cool nightclub.

Locked into a hypnotic pattern, the vibrating tones shimmy casually before the vocals explode one final time and the song closes out.

As the narrator spots the song’s subject across the room, she nervously fixes her hair before their eyes meet. The instant connection creates an overwhelming desire to get closer, leading her to ask, “Are you down for a ride?” and inviting her newfound interest to “come and set me free.”

Growing bolder, our storyteller embraces her feelings and refuses to use hesitation as an excuse. She wants to dance and lose control as she insists, “Let’s stop pretending, take a step, don’t hesitate.” Ignoring what people might say and getting impatient, she makes the first move.

In conclusion, the narrator takes a chance on connection and vulnerability, saying, “Now I’m right by your side, but are you going to accept my invite?”
