Synth Single Review: “Turbo 250” by Sonic Gap

by Karl Magi

Sonic Gap’s “Turbo 250” evokes nostalgia and childlike wonder. The piece opens with a rushing sound that tumbles into an explosive beat as ringing tones leap with blinding radiance. Extended notes flash while glimmering lines skip along and precise 8-bit chimes add technological illumination.

The rhythm is heavily propulsive as a trumpeting synth carries a melody filled with majesty and enormous strength, conjuring images of adventure in fantastical worlds. Sparkling notes trip gently through the music while a muscled underlayer surges forward with determined force.

8-bit tones shine like gems and organ-like sounds ring out with dramatic tension, scything through the track as background chords erupt in coruscating luminance. Brassy notes blaze with nobility and ancient strength before shimmering tones spill across the soundscape again, drenched in a burning sheen. The main melody fills me with serene grandeur, radiating magical power and a legendary aura before the song comes to an end.
