Synth Single Review: “Meet You There” by OutRunner
by Karl Magi
OutRunner’s “Meet You There” is a reflection on loving and remembering. The song commences as soft illumination fills the background while glimmering notes move along with whispered vocals, exhaling tenderly. OutRunner’s voice is full of shivering affection and loss while a gigantic drum beat and rolling bass create shape. The rounded synth exudes trembling brilliance, carrying a wistfully dreaming melody.
I find OutRunner’s vocals charming and heartbreaking while the towering rhythm pulses and the synth trails with lonely elegance. The beat is solid and adds shape while the synth spins with graceful serenity. OutRunner’s guitar embodies melancholy calm as it floats, capturing all of the remembrance and love in the melody.
The guitar arcs upward with irradiating light while the breathy vocals slide with hurting hope. A skillfully played guitar solo burns with bereft emotion and carries the song to an end.
Our storyteller will meet the song’s subject in a certain place and he recalls “the nights we used to talk. I now surrender as I’m sitting all alone.” He also remembers “the late nights by the shore” as he continues to cling to the other person’s memory while repeating that he’ll meet them there.
Synth Single Review: “Alrisha” by Sunset Cassette '87
by Karl Magi
Sunset Cassette '87’s “Alrisha” is a tranquil reflection of cosmic peace. The track begins as hushed notes grow with tentative, shivering motion and the drums add a powerful backbeat to the sweeping bass. The main melody is mellow and sparkles with distant radiance while a heavy underlayer guides the track forward. Cosmically drifting tones shine like stars in a black firmament while the underpinnings give the track galactic weight.
Tiny tones flicker and vibrate with wandering motion, giving the impression of a vast field of small lights in an ebony sky. I can feel myself let go of the world and move among the stars, free and clear of the darkness. An elevated synth extends with astral luminance that floats with gently touching emotion while the drum beat contributes strength.
As the beat drops away, a far-off cosmic flicker glides before the rhythm returns to add forward motion. A synth twinkles like stars on the horizon, shining more brightly as night’s curtain falls and the track breathes to an end.
Synth Single Review: “Rise and Fall (Skylane Drive Remix)” by Sandor Gavin, Neon Shards, Skylane Drive & Lucián
by Karl Magi
Sandor Gavin, Neon Shards, Skylane Drive & Lucián’s “Rise and Fall (Skylane Drive Remix)” creates deep gentleness balanced by percussive energy. The remix starts as Neon Shards plays a guitar melody that is full of intense melancholy and tenderness before a swiftly trembling rhythm moves in below it. Lucián’s voice is creamy and breath-warmed while the guitar slips around it with a caressing sensation.
Rushing underpinnings create new energy in the music as Lucián’s touching vocals capture my feelings and the pulsing low end adds form. Neon Shards’s guitar moves with expressive, emotional force while the drum beat drops away briefly before returning with a steadily guiding motion.
Lucián carries the melody with conviction and softness while the bursting underlayer continues to rush past, contrasting with the immersive tenderness of the vocal performance. A synth gleams with sunrise colours and the remix comes to an end on Neon Shards’s effusive playing.
Synth Single Review: “Packman’s Revenge” by Pashang 爬上 & Shred Krueger
by Karl Magi
Pashang 爬上 & Shred Krueger’s “Packman’s Revenge” is a wild explosion of energy. The track commences as a synth slashes with raging strength while the drums bash their way into the music. The bass is intimidating and heavy while scratchy notes rake at the track. The brass section is blinding while the bass rumbles and arpeggios swirl with dynamic force. The underlayer is utterly dangerous while a fiery synth spills solar brilliance.
Shred Krueger’s guitar speeds through the music with impregnable strength as the arpeggios accelerate. The guitar shines with incandescence while the melody it carries is full of adventure and defiance above the heavily slamming low end. As the guitar melody unfolds, it is utterly potent and the synth below slices with jagged edges. Rushing sounds tumble together beneath the howling guitar and the entire track accelerates again.
Shred Krueger’s guitar lacerates with freewheeling power and blurring velocity while the heavy underpinnings surge. I find my heart lifted by the thrilling guitar melody while the synth interlocks with burning light before swirling into its own madly leaping solo and the guitar flies alongside it while the shuddering percussion and tearing notes close the track.
