Synth Single Review: “Dream Curve” by The Less Dead
by Karl Magi
The Less Dead’s “Dream Curve” exudes fragile warmth as it trembles slowly to life with contemplation and a tinge of more troubled emotion as the descending chords radiate a shimmering glow. Panpipes imbue the music with feathery delicacy and a sense of freedom while the pumping drum beat shapes the main theme.
Impressions of fluffy clouds and a pink sky suffuse the tune, conveying sensations of weightlessness and relaxation. As the pipes exhale, a floating grace fills the melodic pattern, lifting me up and into a realm of dreaming enchantment. Each sonic layer builds up a portrait of a dimension in which one can escape from darkness and struggle.
After a sweep of sound, the full-toned synthesizer transmits soothing feelings and a pastel wash of peaceful comfort. As the low end pulses, I am lifted out of myself and pulled into a realm of meditative elegance and calming energy.
