Synth Single Review: “Lost Perceptions" by Mellow Fields & Sferro
by Karl Magi
Mellow Fields & Sferro's “Lost Perceptions" combines luminosity and tranquility as it evolves. The track opens as static crackles and extended chords breathe outward. A firmly guiding drum beat moves with vibrating bass while radiant chords expand and an arpeggio spins with a pearlescent sheen.
The notes are polished and luminous, permeating the music with brilliance before a sparkling synth flows freely. Sensations of moving through a world of diamonds and sunlight fill the music, mingling in a beautiful sonic stream. Tentative notes glimmer in the distance while the bass begins to undulate quickly, intertwining in rapid patterns.
A burnished lead synth skips past while misty tones slip by and the strong drum beat moves forward. Ethereal sounds flash in the distance while the rhythm adds forward motion. I am enamoured of the mixture of serenity and percussive power as the track unfolds. As the percussion slips away, a breeze glides with free-flowing smoothness and silence falls.
