Synth Single Review: “Seconds Away" by Stacy Gabriel

by Karl Magi

Stacy Gabriel's “Seconds Away" is dreamy and tinged with fragility. The track starts off as drums flourish and a digitally echoing synth moves with singing chimes. The main melody is full of remembrance and gentle regret as the drum beat shapes the music. The synth carrying the melody has a fragile, rounded tone as the sliding notes glow, while a flickering piano trips in between with lightness and ease.

The entire track has a gliding gracefulness that compels me as it unfolds. The chimes sparkle while the elegantly smooth, almost clarinet-like synth calls out with peaceful sensations. A trumpeting tonal pattern glimmers like dawn on the night’s edge while the drum beat trips and a trickling piano moves with calming energy.

As the percussion drops away, a jazz organ drifts with serenity before trumpeting notes cascade and full-sounding tones wriggle with tenderness. The percussion briefly bursts before the jazz organ again carries a thoughtfully caressing melody. The lead synth dances with lithe dynamism as the drum beat continues to propel forward. Prismatic notes illuminate the music while brassy tones shine and the underpinnings take form. The piano shimmers as a rich synth gleams, and the track ends with a fragile exhalation.
